Corrections Policy

At World Times, we are committed to the highest standards of accuracy, integrity, and journalistic ethics. We recognize that errors can happen despite rigorous reporting, editing, and fact-checking. When a mistake occurs, our primary responsibility is to correct it quickly, transparently, and completely.

This document outlines how we handle factual inaccuracies, updates, and clarifications across all World Times digital platforms and print publications.

1. Principles of Accuracy & Transparency

  • Prompt Action: Once an error is detected and verified, our editorial team will correct it immediately. We do not delay corrections to preserve optics.
  • Acknowledge Mistakes: We do not quietly delete or rewrite faulty content without alerting the reader, except in the case of minor typos.
  • Equal Visibility: If an error occurs in a major headline or social media post, we will issue a corrected version across those same channels to ensure the correct information reaches the same audience.

2. Types of Corrections

Substantive Corrections

Applied when a core fact, date, name, number, quote, or context is fundamentally incorrect. The text within the article is corrected immediately, and a formal "Correction Note" is appended to the article detailing the original error and the update timestamp.

Clarifications

Issued when the facts in an article are accurate, but the wording or presentation is ambiguous or lacks necessary context that could cause misinterpretation. The text is reworded for absolute clarity and marked with an inline note.

Minor Typographical Updates

Spelling mistakes, minor grammatical errors, or basic formatting updates that do not alter the facts or meaning of the story are updated silently without a public editorial notice.

3. Retractions and Content Takedowns

As a matter of policy, World Times does not remove or "take down" published articles simply because a subject requests it or because circumstances change after publication.

Articles will only be completely retracted or removed from our archive in extreme situations—such as verified plagiarism, severe copyright infringement, malicious fabrication, or if maintaining the archive poses an immediate physical safety risk to an individual. If a piece is removed, the URL will remain active showing an official retraction explanation.

4. How to Report an Error

We encourage our community and the subjects of our coverage to hold us accountable. If you believe you have found a factual error in our reporting, please reach out to our desk:
